The past couple of days I have been reading a novel by Cassandra King, (wife of author Pat Conroy). I have read several of her other books and very much enjoyed them but this book was a bit deeper than the others I had read. It was about a woman psychiatrist who was an expert at helping other people how to deal with the loss of a relationship (divorces) but could not accept her own loss of her husband due to a hunting accident. End of story: with help from her daughter and best friend, she is able to walk a labrynth during a ceremony of "release". The book got me thinking that maybe I have issues I myself need to release, and maybe I will be happier and work will be easier.
This evening the television was on, and a show I ordinarily wouldn't have watched was on. There were people at a retreat who, instead of walking a labrynth, were at a bonfire and throwing into the fire, material items which symbolized the relationship they were leaving....wedding garters, wedding rings, love letters, etc. With two such close coincidinces, I think perhaps I should take this as an omen and find my own ceremony of rebirth.
